Hi, I’m Colbi.
I’m a trauma therapist, an attachment-focused clinician, and a fellow human being.
For almost 10 years, I have dedicated my career to helping individuals navigate the complex terrain of trauma, PTSD, and relational wounds. Whether you are working through the echoes of childhood abuse, coping with a recent life-altering event, or trying to heal painful patterns in your relationships, I am here to walk alongside you.
My Journey & Clinical Roots
My path to this work is paved with both deep professional training and my own personal experiences. Over a decade in this field has taught me a profound truth: deciding to seek therapy is incredibly challenging. It requires an immense amount of vulnerability to open up about your darkest moments and heaviest burdens.
My clinical roots began in Southern California, where I earned my Bachelor’s degree in 2016 from La Sierra University. During my time in undergrad, I completed a profound internship with the County of San Bernardino Department of Behavioral Health. Working alongside the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, I provided community outreach to individuals navigating severe mental illness and chronic homelessness, helping them secure resources and housing. Once they were safely housed, I collaborated with a clinical team to provide the deep, ongoing support they needed to engage in care and maintain their stability.
That early experience was truly transformative. The raw, human-to-human connection I gained there taught me that no matter how complex or heavy a person's circumstances are, connection and dignity are the foundation of all healing.
Driven to deepen my skills, I went on to earn my Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW) from Loma Linda University in 2017, completing their fast-tracked Advanced Standing program. During my graduate studies, I completed my practicum at the Loma Linda University Behavioral Medicine Center—an acute inpatient psychiatric hospital. I primarily worked with children and adolescents, gaining invaluable, front-line experience in crisis work and the true presentation of severe mental illness. Upon graduating, I was hired full-time at the hospital, where I spent the next three years supporting individuals and families through their most vulnerable moments.
After earning my clinical license, I transitioned to Loma Linda University’s Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), specializing in children with chronic illnesses and their families. It was here that my understanding of stress and the human body rapidly expanded. Witnessing firsthand how medical stress and systemic anxiety impact the physical body broadened my awareness of trauma and its lifelong somatic effects when left unaddressed.
Because of this, I don't show up to our sessions as a detached observer. My experiences have taught me that the most powerful tool in therapy is genuine kindness. I strive to connect with you as a fellow human first—creating a space where you feel seen, deeply understood, and entirely safe.
My Philosophy: The Journey of "Arriving"
When trauma occurs, we often adapt by leaving ourselves behind. We disconnect from our bodies to survive the pain, or we build high walls to keep others out. You might feel like you’re constantly living in survival mode, just trying to make it through the day.
I founded Arrive Therapy because I believe therapy isn’t about fixing a broken version of you. You aren’t broken. Healing doesn’t have a rigid final destination or a magical finish line. Instead, it is a continuous, unfolding journey of deepening your connection to your core self. Together, we work to peel back the layers of anxiety, trauma, and defense mechanisms so you can finally arrive back home to who you have always been.
My Style: Warm, Grounded, and Collaborative
I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to healing. Because trauma impacts both the mind and the body, my treatment is holistic and integrative.
Clients often describe my therapeutic style as a unique blend of:
Warm and Nurturing: You will always have a soft place to land. I bring deep compassion to your pain and celebrate your wins with genuine joy.
Gentle yet Challenging: Because I care about your growth, I will gently nudging you outside of your comfort zone—but we will always move at a pace that respects your nervous system.
Directive and Accountable: We are a team. I don’t just nod along; I provide active feedback, psychoeducation, and practical tools to help you build emotional regulation and resilience.
The Professional Stuff (My Credentials)
While the human connection comes first, my clinical framework is deeply rooted in evidence-based, trauma-informed care. I utilize a comprehensive understanding of attachment theory and the body’s response to chronic stress to tailor therapy to your specific needs.
Specialization: Trauma, PTSD, Complex Trauma (C-PTSD), and Relational/Attachment Wounds.
Primary Modalities:
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing): Fully trained through an EMDRIA-approved training program to help your brain reprocess stuck, painful memories.
Parts Work (IFS-Informed): Utilizing concepts from Internal Family Systems (informed by dedicated training and clinical reading, though not formally certified through the IFS Institute) to explore and harmonize the different, sometimes conflicting, parts of your inner world.
Somatic Practices: To bridge the mind-body connection and release stored trauma from the nervous system.
Attachment Lens: To understand how your earliest relationships shape how you view yourself and connect with others today.
Outside the Therapy Room
When I’m not in the therapist chair, you can usually find me chasing my kids around and soaking up quality time with my family. And when I manage to catch a rare moment of free time, I really enjoy crafting and plugging into my own creativity. It’s one of the primary ways I recharge and stay connected to myself!
